Little Clay Hen is a small family business with a mission to make a simple high quality hand-made American product using locally sourced natural materials. We began crafting our uniquely styled ceramic ornaments in our home studio just before the lock down of 2020 and now, just a few years on, we have reached thousands of customers and nearly 100 retail establishments across the great American landscape! We now offer almost 300 original designs!

Our name, Little Clay Hen, was born from a retelling of an old children’s folk tale, “The Little Red Hen”. In the old story, the little red hen asks every one in the family -the cat, the dog, the horse, and the cow, to help make bread and nobody lifts a finger to help her, it’s kind of sad and in the end she eats the bread alone; that is not good for any of them! In our retelling of the story every one pitches in to help and every one shares the delicious bread together!

Our crew is our family of five, mom, pop, and the 3 bros -young adults (still kiddos to us!) and very much the driving force in creativity, innovation, and production. Each ornament created in our home studio is made, from start to finish -that is from raw clay to hot-out-of-the-kiln, by all five of us! That’s 10 hands making light work of a heavy job; together we make over two thousand ornaments a year.
